The RGD Design Educators Award of Excellence

BRIEF

RGD is thrilled to announce the inaugural Design Educators Award of Excellence, which honours faculty who have made outstanding contributions to student development and pedagogical research. One Award will be presented to a College Educator and one Award for a University Educator working in Canada.

These contributions include: implementation of unique approaches to course or curriculum development, dissemination of critical pedagogical research, mentoring of colleagues, mentoring of students, collaboration, and/or exceptional service.

“Design educators work diligently supporting students; creating relevant, targeted, challenging curriculum; reflecting on and refining their own pedagogy; researching; conducting studies; and keeping up with their own creative practices.” explains Saskia van Kampen RGD, RGD’s VP of Education. “The RGD Education Committee feels that it is necessary to recognize and celebrate these members of our design community in order to understand and share the work that they do and their essential contribution to our profession, our industry, and to future generations of designers. We look forward to honouring our first two award winners this fall.”

The award will be presented at 2018 DesignThinkers in Toronto, October 24-25.

AWARDS

One Award will be presented to a College Educator and one Award for a University Educator working in Canada.
