BRIEF
The public design contest for the Elaboration of the National Museum of Resistance and Freedom in the Peniche Fortress is promoted by the Directorate-General for Cultural Heritage (DGPC) and is supported by OA and the technical assistance of OASRS.
On May 6, 2017, the XXI Constitutional Government determined the creation of a national museum in the Fortress of Peniche, as a memory space and a major symbol of the struggle for democracy and freedom – Resolution of the Council of Ministers no.
The National Museum of Resistance and Freedom is born from the recognition of the Peniche Fortress as a space – memory and greater symbol of the struggle for freedom on a national scale, with international resonances in the ancient and current struggle for Democracy and respect for Human Rights at the global level.
The estimated value for the overall cost of the intervention, in interiors, exteriors and museography, is € 1,770,000.00 (one million, seven hundred and seventy thousand euros), excluding VAT.
