La Pyramide I Architecture Competition — IDOARCH

1. Introduction
The La Pyramide I Architecture Competition — IDOARCH aims to rethink the future of the African city by transforming the iconic La Pyramide into a livable and vibrant space. The goal is to repurpose the building, designed by Rinaldo Olivieri and Riccardo Morandi between 1968 and 1973, and make it a functional part of the city.
2. Presentation
La Pyramide is a 62-meter-high monument located in the heart of the administrative district of Abidjan, Ivory Coast. The building is known as “The Lady of the Plateau” due to its rhythmic concrete geometry and hollow-core design, which naturally allows the circulation of light and air.
3. About the Project
The project aims to rethink the future of the African city by transforming La Pyramide into a livable and vibrant space. The design should:
- Make the building habitable by proposing a program that brings life to the structure.
- Respect the existing structure while adapting it to current needs.
- Socially and urbanistically integrate the building, connecting the Le Plateau business district with the vibrant life of Abidjan.
