Gallery Launches Open-Call to Architects for 2019 Dulwich Pavilion

BRIEF

The Gallery, in partnership with the London Festival of Architecture, has released an open-call inviting expressions of interest from young and emerging architects to design a new temporary pavilion to be constructed in summer 2019.

The 2019 Pavilion will follow in the footsteps of the first Pavilion designed by IF_DO in celebration of the Gallery’s Bicentenary year in 2017. The success of the Pavilion and its associated programme in attracting new audiences to the site proved a testament to potential that contemporary architecture has to develop the life of historical sites and take inspiration from that history.

The focus for the 2019 Pavilion will include the accommodation of a welcome and orientation space for visitors arriving at the gallery alongside a catering offer.

Young and emerging architects, considered as fully qualified architects with under seven years post-graduation, are invited to apply with a portfolio. Submissions are accepted from any size practice as long as the lead architect meets the young and emerging status.

SCHEDULE

Deadline for expressions of interest is midnight, Monday 9 April 2018, 5pm

AWARDS

Six shortlisted practices will be invited to develop a design concept based on the information laid out in this open call as well as a detailed brief and will be awarded an honorarium of £500 Inc. VAT each.
