BRIEF

The aim is to revitalize the area occupied by the former ‘Mercado Municipal de Fafe’, located in an area of ??around 3000m2, by designing a new building, next to the Praça das Comunidades, which, due to its privileged location and size, requires a reflection and special attention.
It is expected that this challenge will result in solutions that guarantee the revitalization of the urban fabric, the alteration of the strategic positioning of the surrounding area, with direct effects on cultural and socioeconomic dynamics.

PROGRAM

Taking into account the dynamics that it intends to promote and the need, on the one hand, to transfer the Automobile Museum which has a collection of about 60 vehicles, on the other, to add the history of the Rally de Portugal as Fafe city identity, considered the “Rally Cathedral – Catedral do Rally”, the design of the Automobile Museum and the Rally of Portugal – Museu do Automóvel e do Rally de Portugal (MARP) is considered fundamental.

And, given the lack of on-site supply, there is a need for the creation of new public spaces, namely a Restoration Area for cafes, bars and restaurants and a Parking Area, resulting in a new centrality and a new point to meet.
The development program of each space is free as well as the creation of complementary spaces. The proposals presented will certainly be valued by the sensitivity and creative contribution that each competitor can add to this project.

SCHEDULE

1. Registration:

1st Phase: until January 31, 2018;
2nd Phase: from February 1 to February 28, 2018;

2. Visits to the Site: Free;
3. Requests for Clarification: until January 31, 2018;
4. Responses to Clarification Requests: February 8 through 2018;
5. Reception of the Works: until 6:00 pm on March 15, 2018;
6. Publication of the Codes of Bids Received: March 23, 2018;
7. Notification of the Selection Decision: April 12, 2018
8. Publication of Jury Evaluation Results: April 18, 2018;
9. Return of Works: April 26 and 27, 2018.

AWARDS

Architects:

1st Prize: 5000.00 € (five thousand euros)
2nd Prize: 1000.00 € (thousand euros)
3rd Prize: 500.00 € (five hundred euros)

Students:

1st Prize: € 700.00 (seven hundred euros)
2nd Prize: € 300.00 (three hundred euros)

FEES

Registration in the contest, in the 1st Phase, is free;
The entry in the contest, if it is carried out in the 2nd Phase, has a cost of 50.00 €.
