MDL Milan Design Loft – Terraviva Competitions

1. Introduction
The MDL Milan Design Loft competition is an interior design contest located in the heart of Città Studi, one of Milan’s most vibrant academic districts and home to the Politecnico di Milano. The competition aims to renovate a loft characterized by double-height spaces, generous natural light, and a strong spatial identity.
2. Presentation
Participants are invited to completely reimagine the apartment, envisioning a contemporary living space designed for an architecture student. The competition goes beyond aesthetic choices, encouraging designers to reflect on daily routines such as studying, group work, resting, and socializing.
3. About the Project
The competition seeks to explore innovative interior design solutions, flexible layouts, and multifunctional spaces within dimensional constraints. Participants have full freedom to redefine the organization of the apartment, modify the mezzanine, and experiment with materials, furniture, and lighting strategies.
