Schrödinger’s Room – Edition #2

1. Introduction

The Schrödinger’s Room competition is an international conceptual architecture contest that invites participants to design a room – real or imaginary – that explores uncertainty, perception, and emotion. Inspired by the quantum principle of superposition, the room becomes a perceptual installation that changes meaning with each observer.

2. Presentation

The competition is open to anyone who believes that designing means creating emotions, exploring ideas, and imagining new spatial possibilities. Participants are invited to design an architectural room, real or imaginary, conceived as a perceptual installation: a defined and bounded space where light, sound, matter, and human presence interact to create shifting, intimate, and personal experiences.

3. About the Project

The size of the room is not fixed or limited – it can be large or small, essential or complex. What matters is the space’s capacity to express the theme of superposition and uncertainty, creating an environment that changes meaning and atmosphere depending on who inhabits it. We are not looking for conventional designs or predictable solutions: we seek ideas capable of evoking unique emotions, raising open questions, and discovering unexplored possibilities.
