Bixiga Municipal Park Competition

Introduction

The Bixiga Municipal Park Competition is an opportunity for architects, urban planners, and landscape architects to contribute to the creation of a new green space in the heart of São Paulo. The park will occupy an area of 11,100 m² and aims to provide leisure, environmental preservation, and historical memory.

Presentation

Bixiga is a historic neighborhood in São Paulo that has been the center of political disputes for 40 years. The land where the park will be implemented was acquired by Grupo Silvio Santos and became an epicenter of conflicts between private interests, urban landscape preservation, and the guarantee of public spaces. The competition seeks to create a program that addresses the main demands of the Department of Green and Environment, as well as the priorities of the population and the park’s management council.

About the Project
